MASSAGE THERAPY

WHAT CAN MASSAGE THERAPY DO FOR YOU?

RMTs are dedicated to restoring and maintaining optimal health and pain-free function of the body.

Massage

Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in B.C. are trained in the assessment and diagnosis of soft tissue and joints of the body, and the treatment and prevention of injury, pain and physical disorders.

Tissues RMT’s work on may include: muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, fascia or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, and/or organs of the digestive system. Techniques that are used include massage, and rehabilitative exercise such as stretching, strengthening, postural exercise and patient education.

Some benefits of massage include relaxation, decreased anxiety, increased circulation to body tissues, which in turn brings nourishment to all structures of the body, promote deep and restful sleep, break up scar tissue, decrease muscle tension, as well as rehabilitation or management of specific conditions and dysfunction using therapeutic massage techniques. Massage therapy is also great for speeding up recovery from athletic injuries and intense training regimes. This includes injuries ranging from sprained ankles to tight shoulders.
